FAQs: Single-cam accuracyUpdated 8 hours ago

Below are some of the most common questions we get about the accuracy of our single-cam setup for coaches and players. If you have a question that's not listed here, reach out to our team.

How accurate are the speed / net measurements?

This can depend greatly on lighting, environment, and speed. To be safe, we can confidently say our measurements are within 5% of our reference.

Will shade on court affect accuracy?

High contrast in the camera's frame might impact the quality of the calibration, since one or more lines might stay undetected.

That said, the camera doesn't need all the lines to calibrate and "extrapolates" on the missing lines, so this shouldn't be a problem.

Can the camera be used on clay and grass courts?

While you will see the best performance on hard courts, Baseline is designed to work on any surface as long as the lines are fairly visible.

Giving clay courts a quick sweep before you calibrate the camera should ensure accuracy.

How accurate is the camera's line calling?

This single-cam setup is primarily designed for providing real-time stats and gamified drills. However, it can be used for line calling for practice or informal matches. We can confirm this setup is at least 2x more accurate than the human eye for 95% of calls.

If your main use case is line calling or you are a tournament organiser: We recommend choosing our dual cam system instead, which is designed specifically for electronic line calling.
